Quick Update

Just got back from appointment with the doctor. We have officially met all three docs in the group and we like all of them...thank goodness! We would feel comfortable delivering with any one of them. The bump was measured for the first time today and everything is right on track! No ultrasound but we heard baby's heart rate which was 142...right in the middle of the "normal" range, so we can't even guess the sex according to the old wives tale of high heart rate means girl and lower means boy. What do you think?

Doctor reminded us that second trimester is great but it does get more difficult in the third. He encouraged us to try to get things done in terms of room and prep while I am still very comfortable. So we have to buckle down and get serious. Furniture and stroller shopping are on the agenda. We were also told to get on the list for child birthing classes....ahhhhh!

We have been slacking off with the weekly pics, but I will try to post one later in the week. Hope all is well with everyone!

We've Got Some Catching Up To Do

So I finally got around to scanning some of the ultrasound pictures into the computer. Here are some of them...

Approximately 7 weeks - First Ultrasound
We had our first ultrasound on 12/21/09. After experiencing a bit of a scare on my birthday the day before, we got great and very relieving news that everything was going well! Will always remember that morning and being SO HAPPY.

12weeks, 6 days - Level I Ultrasound
This u/s was done at the hospital on 1/29/10. At this u/s, little one really began looking like a baby. In the upper left hand side of this profile shot, you can see the feet. In the middle is the tummy and to the right is the head. We also heard and saw the heartbeat. Amazing moment we will never forget!

18 weeks, 6 days - Level II Ultrasound
We went for the Lev. II u/s on 3/19/10 at the hospital. This is the u/s where they measure to see how baby is growing and to make sure that the organs are developing appropriately. Baby was not all that cooperative that day, but the techs were able to get what they needed.

We were so lucky to have two u/s techs who were so friendly. One was actually a student so she got us some extra "fun" shots.

Profile of head, hand waving :o)

The techs did some "free of charge" 3d shots. On the left is the regular 2d image. On the right is the 3d image... you can see that the little one had it's arms up to the sides of face.

...and the belly
19 weeks...

21 weeks...in the Florida Keys. Little one must know it's a summer baby - really liked the heat and started moving lots while we were there.

Currently, we are in the 22nd week. I am feeling really great and enjoy being pregnant. I sometimes forget i'm pregnant until I look down or some kind soul offers me a seat on the subway. I am savoring the moments of the second trimester...i'm sure things will be a bit different in the next few months!

...and as if this post wasn't loooong enough...
I had to include one picture of our first baby, Max - poor thing doesn't have any idea about what's going to happen come August ;0)

Love to you all - Noelle and Ty

The Baby Room - Phase 1 - Painting

Marv and Claire (Ty's parents) visited us in February and while they were here they painted our room and what will be the baby's room. Claire washed all of the walls and Marv handled the brushes, rollers and paint. This (among many other tasks they completed while they were here) was SO extremely helpful.

The paint color we chose is gender neutral since we are waiting to be surprised with a little boy OR girl in August.

Some BEFORE shots...

Papa Marv paints the room...

We haven't done much since the painting (I am a bit superstitious) but Tyler said, "It's time to get crackin" so stay tuned. We will post more pics as the room comes together.

WE CAN'T THANK MARV AND CLAIRE ENOUGH FOR ALL OF THEIR HELP! xoxo

Wow...that was easy!

I am a fan of following blogs but never thought i'd do my own. I am NOT a writer...I have never kept a journal. I started a few, but then when I went back and read what I had written down, I quickly tossed them into the trash for fear of someone finding them and the embarrassment that would likely ensue. I hate reading old greeting cards or letters that I have written to people...what was I thinking?!? I usually avoid putting anything into written format. In today's day and age, all you have to do is punch a few words into the computer and there's your blog...free for cyberspace to see. Eeeek...this isn't me.

BUT... there is one special reason that we thought this may be a good idea...Tyler's family lives in Winnipeg, Manitoba and to our dismay we don't get to see them all that often. With baby on the way, we figured this blog would be a nice glimpse into how we are getting ready for the newest Soroka. We hope you enjoy...it won't be a pulitzer prize winner i'm sure. :0)
